European Accounts Assistant
Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-growing new media organisation.
This role will report directly to the European Financial Controller and will be critical in developing the European Finance function over the next 2 years.
We are looking for an ambitious, organised individual with good IT skills to assist in a variety of tasks from reporting, reconciliations etc through to guiding systems development.
This role may involve some European travel (short periods only).
Duties and responsibilities
- Assist the European FC in the development and roll out of financial processes across Europe
- Prepare monthly reporting for the European Group
- Analysis of group performance
- Reconciliation of intercompany accounts
- Liaising with the European & US accountants to assist in their monthly reporting
- Assistance in preparing process documentation for European subsidiaries
- Ad hoc project work
Required skills and abilities
- Strong accounting background with exposure to all finance functions
- Strong analytical, decision making and problem solving skills
- Highly numerate
- Good IT skills, with proficiency in Excel and experience of at least one accounting package
- Excellent interpersonal skills / ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across the business
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing priorities and tight deadlines
- Foreign languages (German/French) an advantage
Education and/or experience
- AAT and/or part qualified
- Must have a degree, preferably in an analytical/numerate subject, preferably accounting related
- 2 years practical accounting experience
