Systems Development Intern, IT
Job summary
The Systems Development Intern will be responsible for supporting the continued evolution of our internal
systems. Taking the lead from the senior developers, the job will involve improving existing systems and providing
input in to the design of new ones.
Duties and responsibilities
- Supporting and improving our existing internal systems and technologies, including advertising campaign development, campaign
pipeline management and website back ends.
- Deploying new technologies and migrating systems from one to another.
- Aiding with the design of new systems for different departments.
- Liaising with other departments to gain feedback on current systems and ideas for new ones.
Required skills and abilities
- Excellent programming knowledge of at least one procedural language, e.g. Perl, Java, C, C++, Pascal, Visual Basic.
- Good knowledge of web application frameworks (e.g. CGI, JSP, etc.)
- Good knowledge of HTML with basic JavaScript or VBScript skills.
- Good internet knowledge.
- Basic database knowledge.
- Basic understanding of Object Oriented programming techniques.
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively as part of a hard working team.
- Ability to manage own work and meet deadlines in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
Education and/or experience:
- BSc in Computer Science or similar field (need not be completed yet) OR
- 1 year's experience in a Development related field, OR
- Any similar combination of education and experience.
- Ideally candidate would have been developing code for a number of years (although not necessarily commercially).
